City of Kingsport assessing roadway pavement conditions

The City of Kingsport recently launched a project to asses the conditions of all roadways maintained by the city. Officials are utilizing the help of Roadway Asset Services based out of Texas to do this. RAS is a firm that provides mobile data collection to government agencies. Data is collected by a fleet of high-tech vehicles stocked with precision equipment to asses pavement conditions. These vans have digital cameras on-board that collect imagery on all transportation-related assets. The images will then be used to create a digital inventory on what needs to be done to city roads. These vehicles will be traveling all roads in Kingsport during daylight hours over the next few weeks.
