Household hazardous waste collection service coming to Carter County
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Hazardous Waste Collection is coming to the area for a third time. The event aims to assist Carter County residents in clearing their households of unwanted materials. Household hazardous waste includes any unwanted corrosive, flammable, or reactive materials used for vehicles, homes, or lawn and gardens. Examples of items accepted include paint thinner, pesticides, coolants, and pharmaceuticals. Participants should keep materials in their original containers and double package if leaking. A person does not need to live in Carter County to participate. This free hazardous waste disposal service happens at the Carter County Recycling Center on Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM.
