Learning The Sounds, Could Save Your Life, Fire Prevention Week
Do you know what the sounds mean? Is there a beep or a chirp? Those are some of the questions the Kingsport Fire Department hope they can help residents identify during Fire Prevention Week. Learning the sounds of fire safety, may sound simple, but an important action that can help save lives. For instance, a continuous set of three loud beeps, means smoke or fire is present, so get out and stay out, and call 911. A single chirp every 30 or 60 seconds means the battery is low and chirping that continues after the battery has been replaced indicates the alarm is no longer working.
