Report: Marion man threatens deputies in Sheriff’s Office parking lot with compound bow

A Smyth County, Virginia man is charged with attempted capital murder after he threatened a police officer by producing a compound bow.
Douglas Eugene Mason, 48, of Marion, was taken into custody after a brief scuffle with officers. The arrest came after a female victim came to the Sheriff’s Office to report Mason’s actions in a domestic dispute.
Mason is also charged with resisting arrest and public intoxication.
