Commissioners Hire First Female City Manager
Johnson City Commissioners officially hired Cathy Ball, the former Assistant City Manager of Asheville, North Carolina as Johnson City’s first, female City Manager. Commissioners selected Ball, an Erwin, Tennessee native last week after a nationwide search. Thursday night, Ball put pen to paper and signed a 195 thousand dollar base salary and will become the first female city manager, tasked with carrying out the city’s vision. Ball will begin her new duties on December 20, following the retirement of long time city employee and city manager Pete Peterson.
