State Police report fatal crash on Route 71 outside of Gate City

The Virginia State Police has reported a fatality as the result of a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Scott County.

Preliminary details say Christopher R. Hackney, 28, of Gate City, was driving southbound on Route 71 in the Snowflake community when his truck went off the right side of the road.

Hackney overcorrected causing his truck to go off the road again and strike a driveway resulting in the vehicle overturning several times. Hackney was pronounced dead at the scene.
