Summer Wells’ father jailed for DUI days after trip to California to film “Dr. Phil” episode
The father of missing 5-year-old Hawkins County girl Summer Wells spent part of the weekend in a jail cell.
Police information says Don Wells was charged with driving under the influence, violation of the Tennessee open container law, and no proof of insurance following a traffic stop Saturday night.
Records show Wells, 36, was released from the county jail in Rogersville after posting bond Sunday morning. A statement on the family’s official webpage said Don Wells had gone out for cigarettes when he was taken into custody and it was “a stupid decision.”
Wells and Summer’s mother Candace Bly have posted videos and pictures in recent days of their trip to California where they were interviewed for the syndicated show “Dr. Phil” that is scheduled to air in November.
