County Commissioners Reject Bid To Hire Professional Lobbying Firm For Nashville Representation
It’s estimated nearly two thousand pieces of legislation will flood the floors of Tennessee’s General Assembly when it reconvenes in a little over a month. Sullivan County Commissioners have rejected a resolution that would have hired an outside, professional, registered, lobbying firm to help keep Sullivan County in the legislative loop. Sullivan County Commissioner Gary Stidham sponsored the legislation and says recent actions by the Governor to form a review panel looking at local funding issues for schools and the General Assembly’s efforts to gain more control are two reasons he feels the firm should have been hired. The measure could come up again, depending on the actions taken by the legislature when it reconvenes in January.
