WCSO Sergeant Kevin Hurd awarded Outstanding Commitment as a Drug Recognition Expert
Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff, Keith Sexton, says one of the department’s sergeants received the Outstanding Commitment as a Drug Recognition Expert in the East Tennessee region. The Governor’s Highway Safety Office awarded Sergeant Kevin Hurd for his excellence in recognizing impairment in drivers.
Sheriff Sexton says, “WCSO is extremely lucky to have Sgt. Hurd ready to train our officers, and it was great for the State to recognize him as one of the best.” According to a press release, less than half of one percent of officers nation-wide are DREs, or drug recognition experts; and Sgt. Kevin Hurd is one of only two in Washington County, Tennessee.
