VSP reports driver dead from injuries sustained in chain reaction crash in Russell County
A woman has died from injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred earlier this month in Russell County, Virginia.
The Virginia State Police reported that Barbara F. Meadows, 64, of Honaker, was the driver of one of the three vehicles involved in the chain reaction wreck on Route 80 on January 12th. She died this week at an area hospital.
A preliminary review said a vehicle had slowed down when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck. The impact sent the truck into the path of Meadows’ SUV causing another vehicle to swerve and hit the pickup.
A passenger in Meadows’ SUV and another driver were treated for serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
