SWVA To Receive 23 Million Dollars For Cleanup Of Abandoned Mines
23 million dollars is headed to Southwest Virginia to economically and environmentally transform numerous, unsafe, abandoned coal mines in the region into economically useful property. The money is part of the Biden’s administrations recently approved Infrastructure Bill. Senator Mark Warner says those funds are the first installment of future funds to help upgrade abandoned mines in Southwest Virginia. Warner goes on to say in order for those funds to continue, Congress needs to pass a full budget instead of the Omnibus bills that only temporarily extend the operation of the Federal Budget.
