Police: Damascus, Virginia pastor’s pattern of sexual abuse against children began in 1995

A preacher currently active at a house of worship in Damascus, Virginia is accused of sexually assaulting dozens of children over a 26 year period.

Terry Compton, 62, of Glade Spring, is being held without bond and is facing 30 felony counts including aggravated sexual battery and taking indecent liberties, according to a report issued by Washington County, Virginia Sheriff Blake Andis on Friday.

Investigators determined Compton’s pattern of abuse began in 1995 based on information from victims who came forward to report the pastor of Faith Independent Missionary Baptist Church in Damascus.
