City of Kingsport distributing tree seedlings free to public March 17, 19
The City of Kingsport is distributing tree seedlings in an effort to make the Model City a little bit greener. Officials say trees help the community by absorbing storm water, which results in less runoff within the city; as well as producing cleaner air and improving water quality.
Organizers say 200 trees were ordered, which includes 50 each of Sugar Maple, Redbud, White Dogwood, and Scarlet Oak. Tree seedlings are free, but limited to ten per person. They will be distributed on March 17th at the Kingsport Public Library from 11:30 to 1:30; and again on March 19th from 9 to noon at Glen Bruce Park. More info here.
