House finance approves bill to authorize taxpayer dollars to build dome stadium in Nashville
Should pro sports stadiums have financial backing from the state? That question has been posted to the Tennessee legislature as the Titans of the NFL seek a new dome in the city.
House Finance, Ways, & Means Committee chair Chris Todd stated he has not found anything in the state constitution that would allow a bill that authorizes the state to issue $500 million in bonds for the new Nashville dome.
“Our citizens stop me on the street and tell me this is not a good idea. Surely, y’all are not considering this,” Todd said Wednesday.
The bill is now placed on the full House calendar. The City of Nashville and Davidson County must meet the taxpayer match.
