Virginia DMV reports highest fatality rate on highways in 14 years
A new report says fatalities on Virginia’s highways are at their highest rate in 14 years.
Data generated by the Department of Motor Vehicles says 968 people were killed in auto crashes in 2021 and those numbers show fatalities shot up across several categories including teen drivers, motorcyclists, and speed-related wrecks.
State and national numbers suggest 2022 could be another record year with the auto death rate in Virginia already 12 percent higher based on yearly bench points.
