Filler-Corn out as Democratic minority leader
With budget talks still wavering and lawmakers in town for the annual veto session, it is political maneuvering that has the spotlight at the Virginia General Assembly.
Former head speaker Eileen Filler-Corn, demoted to minority leader with Republicans regaining control of the House in the Fall, has now been stripped of that title by her fellow Democrats.
Corn was the first woman and first Jewish person to hold the title of House Speaker in the 400-year history of the Virginia legislature.
