Tennessee Set To Begin New Funding Formula For School Systems K-12
With Governor Bill Lee’s signature, Northeast Tennessee K-12 education systems will be using a new formula to operate its multi billion dollar spending document. For the first time in nearly thirty years, schools systems across the state will be using a plan that attaches a set amount of money per student. Supporters of the new formula say the current funding method is overly complicated and makes it difficult to track how the money is spent. Opponents argue the plan could potentially punish school districts because they might receive less funding over time.
