Interstates 40, 75, Two Of Top Five Deadliest Interstates In Country

Interstates 40 and 75, both of which run through the Volunteer State are being named two of the top five deadliest interstate highways in the country. Interstate 40 was ranked third with 270 reported fatalities in 2020. Interstate 75 that travels through Chattanooga ranked fourth with 246 fatalities. Each reported average fatalities of more than ten per one hundred miles to make the list. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports a total of more than 38 thousand fatalities in 2020, the highest figure since 2007.
