Hawkins County suspect shocked, sprayed before finally taken down

A report from the Hawkins County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office said a corporal had to use defensive tactics after a burglary suspect tried to run from arrest several times.

The review said the officer deployed a taser and sprayed Billy Joe Burton, 39, of Sneedville, but the suspect refused to surrender quietly and even tried to grab the officer’s service weapon.

Burton was armed with two knives and was in possession of meth and heroin when officers were able to detain him. He is charged with aggravated assault on an officer, resisting and evading arrest, and several drug charges.
