Russell County, Turns Abandoned Coal Site Into Industrial Park
Russell County, Virginia officials cut the ribbon on a new industrial park on land that was formerly used for mining. The 160 acre site near Cleveland, Virginia was once the home of coal mining activities and is funded by the Virginia Department of Energy as part of Project Reclaim. The site offers rail lines, electrical grid, a mile of roads, along with water and natural gas supply. Ten mine portals were closed and officials removed more than 30 tons of coal waste from the abandoned site.
