Appalachian Power restores service to most customers after weekend storms
Officials with Appalachian Power say services have been restored to most customers as of Monday afternoon, however some residences could be without power until Tuesday evening. An update to the company’s social media says crews restored power to 22,000 customers on Sunday alone, after heavy wind and storms tore through the region on Friday.
Appalachian Power says as of Monday afternoon, there are still roughly 2,000 customers without power in Virginia. Service is expected to be restored by 4 PM on Tuesday to those still without power in Smyth, Washington, Wise, and Dickenson Counties.
