Scott County economic group votes to find banking partner after New Peoples developments
A local government organization has decided to seek other banking partners after recent developments with New Peoples Bank.
An official confirmed the Scott County Economic Development Authority voted unanimously to authorize Executive Director John Kilgore and Chair Robert Frazier to start soliciting proposals from other bank lenders.
The group currently has accounts with New Peoples including those with federal dollars. Information released by New Peoples last week indicated their computers and other operations experienced an interruption. That resulted in thousands of customers losing access to their accounts.
