Virginia joins nationwide task force to combat scam robocalls
Virginia’s Attorney General, Jason Miyares, says the Commonwealth has joined a nationwide task force aimed at combating robocalls—which are illegal, automated scam calls that intend to steal victims’ personal information.
Miyares says Virginia signed on to the task force to assist in investigating and taking possible legal action against telecommunications companies allegedly responsible for bringing foreign robocalls into the country. Officials remind the public to be cautious of phone calls that demand personal information or payment in the form of gift cards.
