Tennessee’s strict abortion policy officially on the books
Tennessee was one of three states that had trigger laws go on the books Thursday following the US Supreme Court’s decision to reverse abortion laws connected to Roe V Wade.
A total of 13 states have already set their abortion bans in place but Tennessee’s is one of the strictest in the country with felony charges for those who perform abortions and a line item that prohibits the procedure in cases of rape or incest.
Most abortion providers across the state including Planned Parenthood have shuttered their operations. The Bristol Women’s Health Center has completed its move to Virginia and has resumed procedures.
