Major Disaster Declaration Approved By President, For Buchanan and Tazewell Flooding
After a request in September, by Southwest Virginia’s Congressional delegation, President Biden has formally approved a Major Disaster Declaration in response to severe flooding in Buchanan and Tazewell Counties in July. The declaration by the President triggers the release of Public Assistance in the affected areas. Senators’ Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, and Congressmen Morgan Griffith responded by saying the federal government has taken the crucial step to aid recovery efforts in Buchanan and Tazewell counties and they will continue to push for individual assistance which remains under review.
