Wise County Sheriff’s Office to hire five new school resource officers
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve received a state grant that will allow them to hire five new school resource officers. According to a statement from Sheriff Kilgore, the grant comes from the Department of Criminal Justice Services, and will fully fund salary and benefits for these positions.
This development brings the number of SRO’s in Wise County Public Schools to 18. Sheriff Kilgore says safety and security of children, schools, and staff is a top priority.
