Plan To Shore Up Buck Van Huss Dome Approved By BOE, With 20 Million Dollar Price Tag
It will cost an estimated 20 million dollar cost and a sixteen month long project to fix the more than 50 year old historic, but structurally, insecure Buck Van Huss Dome. Tuesday night, the Board of Education voted to move forward with a plan to spend up to 20 million dollars to shore up and fix the dome which was discovered to be insecure during a check of the dome this summer. Two other plans were discussed, both exceeding the cost to shore up the dome and add projects that were already on the horizon but have now been moved forward with the decision to fix the dome. Efforts are also being made to preserve as much historical significance of the facility as possible.
