UPDATE: Jonesborough sees improvement in water tank levels; reports 19 leaks repaired
Jonesborough utility staff report on Tuesday evening that 19 water line leaks have been repaired across town. Emergency officials declared a state of emergency Monday in Washington County after a frigid holiday weekend wreaked havoc on what they called an “aging” water system.
The most recent update Tuesday night says crews are seeing a promising improvement in water tank levels, and they continue to work around the clock to find and fix all leaks. More water for consumption distribution happens Wednesday morning from 9 to noon at both Grandview and Lamar Elementary Schools.
Jonesborough farmers who need water for livestock can contact the water department for assistance. Residents with water are encouraged to continue conserving in order to help the repair process and their neighbors experiencing outages.
