BVU calls special meeting to vote on lawsuit settlement
The Authority Board of Directors at Bristol Virginia Utilities has scheduled a special called meeting for Thursday to consider a settlement to a lawsuit with the City of Bristol.
BVU has offered a $2.1 million settlement to City Council which must be ratified. The suit originated in federal court in 2020 when the city sued the utility for more than $6 million.
The city argued they were owed money from the BVU sale of its OptiNet operations while the electric provider said those funds were used to retire debt.
The meeting is set for noon Thursday.
