Drugs, guns, and cash seized in Wise County drug investigation

One person faces multiple drug charges following a six-month investigation into drug distribution occurring less than a mile from the campus of the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

A report from the Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office said numerous undercover drug buys were made beginning in September.

A search warrant was served at a home on Vanover Avenue Thursday where six firearms were seized along with multiple units of fentanyl, heroin, mushrooms, and more than $8,000 in cash. The suspect also faces child neglect and endangerment charges.

Officers with the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force, the US Postal Service, the UVA-Wise Campus Police Department, Wise County, and Norton were involved in the investigation and search.
