GoFundMe project set to help Castlewood child abuse victim
*Editor’s Note: Bristol Broadcasting Co News does not identify victims of abuse. However, a link in this story refers to the child by his first name.
A Russell County, Virginia child abuse victim who had both legs amputated due to frostbite from exposure to outdoor conditions will soon be moved to a rehab center.
A family member provided an update on the child in a GoFundMe profile established to raise funds for the juvenile’s hospital bills and other needs.
The story said the boy was born with a chromosonal disorder called 49XXXY. Police said his father Michael Park and his live-in girlfriend Rebecca Bremner kept the child in an outdoor box trailer on their Castlewood property with limited heat and a bucket for a bathroom.
The family has set a $65,000 goal to help with purchasing prosthetics, physical therapy, and a specialized vehicle for transport.
