UPDATE: Colonial Heights homeowner shoots intruder

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has released more information regarding a Thursday night shooting in Colonial Heights in Kingsport.

The preliminary review says a homeowner on Hillandale Drive encounter an individual exiting his home and approaching him in a manner that caused the resident to fear for his safety.

Investigators said the homeowner fired his pistol, striking the stranger and leaving them with non-life-threatening injuries. No charges have been filed. The case will be evaluated by a grand jury for potential charges.
