Tournament time: Several teams vying for state titles

Several teams from our region are heading to their respective state basketball tournaments in the coming days.

In Tennessee, Dobyns Bennett is headed back to Murfreesboro for a shot at back-to-back state titles. They play Memphis East on March 15.
Volunteer and Unicoi County will take part in the Class 3A semifinals next week. It’s the Blue Devils’ first trip to state in 37 years.
Hampton and University High will represent the region in Class 1A.

In Virginia, George Wythe and Radford play for state titles in Richmond this weekend in the boys’ bracket.
In the girls’ tournament, Eastside High competes for the Class 1 title at VCU on Thursday. Wise Central vies for title number 7 on Saturday.
