Eastern Kentucky college reaches settlement with athlete’s family
A private school in neighboring Eastern Kentucky is paying the family of a former athlete $14 million in an out-of-court settlement after he developed a heat stroke during wrestling practice and died.
The suit brought by the family against University of the Cumberlands said the concerns of Grant Brace, who had an existing medical condition that required water breaks, were ignored in August 2020 after running sprints on an area of campus called Punishment Hill.
