VSP trooper on leave as assault investigations continue

The Virginia State Police confirmed a trooper serving in Dickenson County has been placed on leave following his arrest over the weekend.

Court records show Charles Parsons III, 29, was arrested in his residential area of Wise County Saturday before noon for assaulting a family member. The report said Parsons also kicked a Sheriff’s deputy while spitting and punching two fellow state officers while being placed in custody, resulting in additional charges.
