BRVA City Leaders Raise Real Estate Tax, To Help Off Set Costs To Close Plagued Landfill
Even though the Bristol Virginia landfill is now closed, the cost to close the plagued landfill continues to cause problems for everyone. Tuesday night city leaders in Bristol raised real estate taxes to help offset that cost. City Council voted unanimously to increase the tax from one dollar and twelve cents to one dollar and seventeen cents per one hundred dollars of assessed value. That’s not all. City leaders also have on the table a consideration to raise the monthly solid waste collection fee by doubling it to more than 70 dollars per month.
