Deck collapse in neighboring North Carolina sends nine people to hospital

A total of nine people including a 16-week-old baby were transported to area hospitals after an outdoor deck collapsed at an Airbnb rental in neighboring North Carolina.

Police said the home is located on Little Tree Road in West Jefferson not far from the Northeast Tennessee, Johnson County border in Ashe County.

Officials said the cause of the structure giving way is being investigated by police along with building code personnel.
