Sullivan Commissioners Adopt New Hotel/Motel Tax

Sullivan County Commissioners have added a new hotel/motel tax to help assist local tourism activities in the county. The new levy will place a tax to lodge of four percent within parts of Sullivan County and Bluff City, three percent in Bristol, and one percent in both Kingsport and Johnson City. The tax will be on top of each city’s own hotel/motel tax. Kingsport and Johnson City’s rate is now seven percent and Bristol’s rate stands at five percent.
