It appears taxes are going up in Johnson City. City Commissioners will consider a 25 cent property tax hike to support a 114 million dollar budget. If approved, the increase would mean a rate of one dollar and 98 cents per 100 dollars of assessed value, that’s up from the current one dollar and 73 cents rate. The increase means a person who owns a house assessed at 200 thousand dollars would pay 990 dollars a year, up from 865. Commissioners will consider the tax hike proposal at its meeting Thursday evening at City Hall.
