Injured hiker hoisted out of Cumberland Gap park by National Guard experts
A four-member crew with the Tennessee National Guard are credited with an air evacuation of an injured hiker in the Cumberland Gap National Historic Park on Wednesday.
A report from the agency said Tennessee guard and emergency management officials received notice of a victim in need of medical aid just after 10 a.m. due to a head injury in a remote portion of property near the state border.
The hiker was hoisted out of the park just after 11:30 at flown to UT Medical Center for treatment.
