Police: Shot fired at Mosheim officer during patrol

The Mosheim Police Department said someone fired a shot at a patrol officer early Wednesday morning while driving on eastbound Andrew Johnson Highway between Pottertown Road and Forest Road.

The report said the officer spotted a group of cars traveling westbound on the roadway around 2 a.m. when a shot from a large caliber handgun was fired toward the cruiser.

The statement said poor lighting prevented the officer from identifying the car or tag number after he attempted a pursuit. Anyone with information on the incident can contact Mosheim Police.
