NEW: Accused child killer sent to prison for life

Accused child murder suspect Sean Daniel Roberts will spend life in prison after his Alford plea in Wise County Circuit Court.

Roberts fled his home in Norton in April 2022 after police said he killed his 4-year-old son Jacob and injured his fiance with a claw hammer and knife. He was later captured in Kentucky.

Roberts cannot appeal the sentence under the state agreement. The Alford plea allows Roberts to accept a sentence from a judge without admitting guilt.
