Former Greene County fire department member indicted for stealing funds

A tip from Greene County officials about financial irregularities with the Sunnyside Fire Department has led to the indictment of the agency’s former treasurer Misty Taylor on a theft charge.
A State Comptroller’s report said Taylor misappropriated more than $20,000 from department coffers and transferred them to her joint bank account with her husband, who served as fire chief.
Those illegal transfers occurred over a two year period. The couple resigned from the department in September.
