Former Washington County jailer fired for role in contraband conspiracy
An officer at the Washington County, Tennessee Detention Center is out of job and charged with providing drugs to inmates as part of a five-person operation.
Investigators said they determined inmates Joshua Steadman of Kingsport and Logan Stockton of Johnson City worked with former jailer William Turbyfill in the drugs for cash exchanges.
Two others, Tina Bray of Johnson City and Andrew Keffer, were the drug suppliers and packaging arms of the operation, according to the Sheriff’s Office report. Police intercepted a package full of money and Suboxone on May 31st before it could be placed in the facility.
All five have been indicted on conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal facility.
