Washington County Tennessee School System Faces Lawsuit
A newly filed federal lawsuit says Washington County Tennessee school system showed “deliberate indifference” while two Daniel Boone High School football players were allegedly hazed and sexually abused in the summer and fall of 2022. The suit seeks a declaration that the Washington County Department of Education violated the plaintiffs’ rights, an injunction requiring WCDE “to take all necessary steps” to eliminate what it calls a “hostile environment” at Boone, and financial compensation for both pain and suffering and economic damages. It also asks for attorneys’ fees, expert witness fees and other costs related to the suit. The lawsuit claims that the victims were subject to hazing that started in July of 2022, and that the hazings were perpetrated by boys on the schools football team, and subsequently ignored by school officials.
