Former Elizabethton Cyclone baseball player wins the World Series
Evan Carter and the Texas Rangers won their first World Series together. Carter, a native of Elizabethton and a former Cyclone made a sliding catch in the second, and that prevented extra bases and hit a double in the seventh only to be tagged out later between third and home, but not before the Rangers brought in a run. The Rangers went on to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0. In the World Series, Carter had six hits in 21 at-bats and set the record for most doubles in a single postseason with nine.
