Report: Developer Steve Johnson named to Governor’s new transportation council
Reports published Monday said Bristol real estate developer Steve Johnson will serve on the new Transportation Modernization Board created by Gov. Lee’s new $3.3 billion highway construction plan.
Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton appointed Johnson to serve on the cabinet.
City councils and Democrats object to the board’s final decisions on the location of the new ‘choice lanes’ or toll roads. Current plans will not include any input from city planners.
Other members include TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley, former Oak Ridge Mayor David Bradshaw, Memphis attorney Mike Keeney, and former campaign finance official Fred Decosimo.
