Bill to increase minimum wage in Virginia passes house
A minimum wage increase in Virginia could be coming. House Bill 1 would raise the minimum wage over the course of the next two years. Currently, the minimum wage sits at $12 per hour. With the new bill, it would jump to $13.50 in 2025 then to $15 in 2026. The bill passed the House on a party line vote, 51 to 49, with Democrats voting for and Republicans against. It now will move to the Democrat-controlled Senate and a vote is expected this upcoming week.
