Tennessee State of the State update
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee outlined his priorities for the year in his sixth State of the State Address. According to Lee, Tennessee is the strongest it’s ever been and people from across the U.S. turn to Tennessee for economic prosperity. School choice is one of the biggest topics up for discussion this year. If approved, funds would be offered to 20,000 students to attend private school or be home schooled. Governor Lee also plans to enhance mental health support and says nearly four in ten Tennesseans report symptoms of anxiety or depression. He also proposed legislation to protect Tennessee’s musical heritage called the ELVIS Act which aims to protect musicians from misused artificial intelligence.
