Single vehicle crash on US 19 kills driver

A Virginia State Police report said a female driver was killed Sunday night on US 19 in Washington County.

The statement said the car was headed northbound near John Douglas Wayside when the car went off the left side of the road, through the median, and into the southbound lanes where it stopped after striking an embankment.

Investigators said the driver was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim had not been released as of Monday afternoon.
